Adult Music Lessons in West Los Angeles

It's never too late to build real skill on your instrument. Once your fundamentals are solid, we move into scales, chord structure, and technique — the tools that turn practice into genuine musicality, no matter what age you started.

Who Teaches

All of our teachers are multi-instrumentalists and working musicians who perform regularly around Los Angeles. Danny consults with each student to match them with one of our incredible teachers — Sophie, John, Peter, Jess, or Trey — based on your instrument, goals, and musical taste.

What a Lesson Looks Like

Every lesson is built around you — your goals, your current skill level, and the music you actually want to play. Here's what to expect:

We start by identifying your musical dream — what songs you actually want to learn, what genres interest you, and what style of playing you want to work towards. Once we land on a great song to start with, that song becomes the way in — we use it to introduce chords, technique, and rhythm in a way that makes immediate sense.

Once you build a solid technical foundation, you're ready to level up into scales, chord structure, and the finer points of technique. This is where the real musicality starts to click — you'll notice your playing feeling smoother, more confident, and more expressive. Together, we'll build on your fundamentals at a pace that respects your schedule, so every new skill actually sticks.

Lessons run 30 to 60 minutes, available in person at our studio locations or online via Zoom — whichever fits your schedule better.

Levels & Pricing

It's never too late to start. We work with adults at every level — complete beginners, people returning to an instrument after years away, and experienced players looking to push further. Private, in-person lessons are $135 per hour, with flexible 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lesson options available.

We want lessons to be financially accessible when possible, so a limited number of reduced, sliding-scale rates are available for students who need them. Availability depends on the teacher and current studio capacity. If cost is a concern, please contact us. We're happy to have a confidential conversation about available options.

  • In-studio or online — your choice, same price

  • 30-, 45-, or 60-minute lessons available

  • No long-term contracts — book lesson to lesson, or set up a recurring weekly slot

FAQ

Am I too old to start learning an instrument? Not even close! We regularly work with adult students in their 30s, 50s, 70s, and beyond (our oldest student is 93) — some picking up an instrument for the first time, others returning to one they set down years ago. Musicality and progress aren't limited by age.

I've never played before — is that okay? Absolutely! Complete beginners are welcome, and many of our adult students start with zero experience. We'll begin with the fundamentals and build from there at a pace that works for you.

Do I need my own instrument to get started? Nope! You can borrow an instrument at one of our studios or even rent an instrument from us if you're still on the fence about investing in your own. Eventually you will want your own instrument for lessons and practice at home. If you're not sure what to get, your teacher is happy to offer recommendations based on your budget and goals before you purchase.

How often should I take lessons? Most students take one lesson per week, which gives enough time to practice in between while keeping momentum going. We can adjust frequency based on your budget, goals and schedule.

Can I do lessons online instead of in person? Yes — our teachers offer both in-studio and Zoom lessons, and you're welcome to switch between the two depending on what works for you week to week.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson? We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. The preferred payment method is billed through our Square system the morning of the scheduled lesson.
